I got my Volt back on the 22nd. Lot's of issues, parts came in piecemeal over several days, head was sent out for milling and to have the parts installed.
The good news is that on the first day back with the commute I have no problems. Keeping fingers crossed. I hated being without my car.

Default replaced head on 2012 Volt

I've had my Volt back for a couple of week since the ICE engine had major work. It is running without issues now and I believe the problem has been solved. Missed my car for about three weeks, but my dealership gave me a brand new 2014 Equinox to drive and even filled the tank a couple of times to help with the extra gas I was burning.

Angry 2012 Volt 2 Cylinder Heads Misfiring

Hi, I'm new to this site I just got my car back after it's 4th time in the shop in a year and 3 months of owning it. It's a 2012 Volt, brought brand new in October 2012. This time 2 of the cylinder heads misfired and it took them 3+ weeks to get new ones in because they were on back order. I'm kind of over having a Volt. First it was the entire receiver that just stopped working leaving me stranded in a parking lot for 2+ hours, then both key fobs had to be replaced, then the ignition coil and now 2 cylinder heads. What's next?!

It was a little painful for me, too getting the coils replaced, and then the heads done, but since mid November I haven't had any more problems.
Hang in there!

Thanks for the motivation! I'm really worried about what will happen next, especially when the warranty is up. Every few months my car has been in the shop for weeks at a time.

I am wondering if GM has had any announcement on this issue in the past few years. From what I read here it happens more often to those who have longer daily commute. Is this correct?

I commute about 40 miles per day for work, seems long to me but could be worse!

Actually that's what I meant, that your commute is long.

Regard Erin.
What color is your Volt?

Finally, the check engine light came on about two weeks ago and i took it in for service. They replaced some type of coil and the car was fine for the weekend, but the check engine light came on again and they told me it's a bad cylinder head....NOW, they tell me no part for it is available because it is on back order in the entire U.S. and my only option is for them to replace the engine. I just want them to replace the part. This should not happen at such early mileage.

I'm at a loss.

Melissa
You said new ? Is it under warranty ?

God bless
Wyr
