Default Just Picked Up My New Volt

Hello Everyone,

I just picked up my new 2012 Volt. Very pleased, yet somewhat concerned about the wisdom of leasing such a new technology. I would appreciate any "tips/cautions" from experienced Volt owners. I am in New Orleans.

Thanks,

Bvalentino

I leased mine. At the end of the 3 year lease I can still buy it if it turns out relieable. If not I can say bye bye and be a head of the game. Also in 3 years we will see more Electrics for a bigger choice.

Thanks Bigdog. I leased mine too thinking as you were that this is a 36 month test. We'll see how the technology progresses in that time.

Where are you from? How long have you had your Volt?

Bvalentino

I'm from the Lansing, Mi area.
Also though its been a few years my last lease the buy price was about $5K more than the wholesale of it. I fevered GMAC wholesale and they came back $400 more. So I bought it.

I'd also suggest talking to a CPA.. You might, or might not have a tax advantage by leasing. Me, I purchased my Volt. I've never leased a vehicle (or hardly anything) in my life. Probably a "southern" thing, but If I want to paint it "camo" and put a gun rack in the back window of my Volt and a CB radio, a Dixie Rebel flag on the hood and mud flaps with silhouette of a naked woman on the rear wheels, I have the freedom to alter it.
(Not that I'm doing those silly, "Southern Thangs"... I just like the idea that it is mine...)

Smile Volt

Purchased my Volt 2/11. Approximately 10,000 miles. Thoroughly enjoy driving this vehicle.

Averaging 90 mpg-mostly local driving.

Hello all you Volt-ers,

I recently bought mine and it was a lease return well taken care of with 24K mikes. Its a 2014 and I like it. Since we have been getting plenty of rain I was looking to keep the sides cleaner with some mud flaps. Has anyone found some worthwhile sets to check out?

congrats! Is this your first? What color and options? How are the controls working out as far as heater and cabin stuff? I have had mine for a month or so and driven about 5K miles.
