Default charge setting doesn't stick

I use the 120 volt "portable charger"- when I set it for the higher charge rate - sometimes it does - sometimes it doesn't - charge at the higher rate. However after the charge is complete I will check the charge setting and it is once again in the lower setting. How do it make it stay in the higher setting.

I believe it will default to the lower amperage for safety. (Not knowing where you will plug in next) Just choose the higher amperage each time you charge!

Default 120 charger settings

I leased 2 volts for my company and wasn't told there was 2 settings. After I found the higher setting it reduced my charge time by 4 hours. I talked to someone at Volt and was told everytime you shift out of park the setting resets to the lower charge rate. It's a pain to change it each time you charge. I wish it would default to the higher setting. Maybe something you get used to. We'll see!

The 8A default is a pretty annoying "feature"....I frequently get out of the car & into the house before remembering to set the charger back to 12A. I can't get a full charge before leaving for work at the 8A setting. My charger is mounted on my wall & plugged in to a dedicated outlet - I don't see any situation where I would charge with 110V anywhere else. How do we petition Chevy to give us control over this default setting?

I agree, I always have to double check it. I heard they now have what they call a Blink charger that can give a full charge in 45 minutes. Must be 440 12 amp maybe?

I agree it is annoying to reset to 12 amps each day. I now have the following procedure.
About a mile from home (back street little traffic) I set charging to the 12 amp setting.

When I get home and plug in the car charges a t the 12 amp setting. For me this is easier than trying to reset the charge rate after parking and plugging in.

If your Volt is so equipped, you can set “Location Based Charging.” That allows your vehicle to associate your garage, e.g. with the 12 Amp setting so every time you’re at home it will charge at 12 Amps. When you leave home, you will then notice it defaults back to 8 Amps. Works great. I think all Volts must have GPS in order to provide OnStar, so I think all Volts should have this feature. Check the manual; it’s easy to set up.
