dealer did it

I went to my local Chevy dealer to keep him in business and repairing my Volt, if necessary. Came to about $150. and I hope it lasts as long as the first battery, which was 6 years.

vsimpkin A replacement battery needs to be a AGM (absorbent glass mat) with provisions to attach the outside vent hose. Old style flooded lead acid batteries, or partially sealed AGM, or sealed gel 12v batteries all have somewhat different out-put voltages, but more important different charge characteristics. Look at the battery in your "trunk" it is a easy swap, but the replacement needs to appear the same regardless of "brand". Your dealer is the easy but more expensive source. Order a replacement from a reliable parts store.

PRE-EMPTIVE STRIKE (12V battery replacement)

I'VE GOT A 2013 Volt with 75k miles and the original 12v battery. It seems nasty things can happen when it gives up the ghost. So....I'm going to get a new battery, but where? Auto parts store, Costco, dealer? Is it plug and play or do settings have to be reset?
